Puppet Fabrication
Working freelance for world-class companies like Talk to the Hand Puppets, Chris Barlow Puppets and Creatures Ltd. and Fuzzy Lightbulb. I’ve helped to create and maintain some of the most recognisable characters as puppets that are built to perform, last and delight. Whether it’s Peppa Pig and George for Legoland Billund and New York or storybook favourites, such as Little Red Riding Hood for Legoland Windsor, every character is built with care and precision.
I also design and fabricate bespoke puppets for private clients, guiding them through the creative process so their first characters feel as professional as any big-brand build.
Alongside fabrication, I specialise in keeping puppets in peak condition for stage and screen. From making sure Perry, Clarence and Chickson are camera ready for the Quorn adverts to reinforcing Avenue Q’s Kate Monster’s skull after an accident during a house move, I make sure every puppet looks and performs exactly as intended. Whether it’s a brand new build or ongoing maintenance, I focus on durability, functionality and the small details that make a puppet feel truly alive.
Key Achievements and Skills
Created an original cast of characters for a new family musical.
Using Blender and 3D printing, took models of IP characters and translated these into working puppets for world-class theme parks.
Experienced working with plastazote, reticulated foam, fleece and fur. Advanced sewing skills and invisible seams. Fabric dying and colour matching.
From sculpt to finished puppet, built a full replica of a well-known character. One of the puppeteers of the original commented, “He feels exactly like the real one.” High praise indeed!
